On March 2, 2014, iDeerApp Software released new version 1.4.9 for iDeer Blu-ray Player. In this version, a new function-Hardware Acceleration(BluFast MX) was added, which can accelerate Blu-ray playback and lower Mac's CPU usage on Mac. What can BluFast MX do in details and how can we use it?
BluFast MX is a new hardware acceleration technology designed to accelerate Blu-ray playback. What can this new feature do in details?
First, it cuts the utilization of CPU during Blu-ray playback. By enabling this feature, the CPU usage can be reduced by 20-50% when playing a Blu-ray disc or file. For example, a lower-end model MacBook may take 70-100% of CPU to play a Blu-ray, some models even failed to play Blu-ray. Enabling this feature, CPU usage will be reduced to 20-50%.
Second, it reduces energy consumption of Macs, especially MacBook. Blu-ray disc playback may cause an increase in CPU usage. Much consumption makes computer get hotter, and works not well, even crashes sometimes. Hardware acceleration technology can run more processes at the same time. Less energy will be taken, and your MacBook won't be so hot during playback. Below data can help you better understand what this function can do.
Note: Test Environment: iMac, Mac OS X 10.9 with an external Blu-ray drive.
Third, it makes Blu-ray playback much smoother, especially on Mac OS 10.9. The using of BluFast MX hardware acceleration makes movie playback more fluent due to less CPU usage. The freezing and pixelation problems will disappear.
Open Preferences box under iDeer Blu-ray Player, you can find Enable Hardware Acceleration option under Video tab. Then you can enjoy Blu-ray movies on MacBook with excellent experience.
