Based on true events, Argo is definitely one the best movies in 2012. On Feb 19, 2013, this film will be released on Blu-ray. If you are not sure whether to get one or not, you can read below introduction and reviews about Argo. If you don't know how to play Argo Blu-ray on the computer, iDeer Blu-ray Player will help you. And let's feel the tension and excitement of this true historical event with Ben Affleck.
Argo is Ben Affleck's third film he directed. It is based on a 2007 article named "How the CIA Used a Fake Sci-Fi Flick to Rescue Americans from Tehran.", a true story taking place in late 1979 and early 1980, in which Tony Mendez (by Ben Affleck) , a CIA operative, led the rescue of six U.S. members of the United States embassy from Tehran, Iran, during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis.
Argo opens with describing the background on the situation and regularly intersperses actual news reports from the time with the (semi) fictionalized scenes. "On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, a CIA "exfiltration" specialist named Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck) comes up with a risky plan to get them safely out of the country. A plan so incredible, it could only happen in the movies." -- (C) Warner Bros.
Some movies are good, they can grab you at the beginning, but unable to continue with the momentum. While some movies are great, they can grab you and—pardon the cliché—never let go. Argo is one the greatest ones, it deserves recognition. Since released, Argo was widely acclaimed.Rotten Tomatoes reported that 96% of critics gave the film positive reviews based on 246 reviews with comment: "Tense, exciting and often darkly comic, Argo recreates a historical event with vivid attention to detail and finely wrought characters."
Although not getting any Oscar nomination, 2012's Argo is still one of greatest films, the winner of a number of awards in that season. This film will be released on Blu-ray on February 19, 2013. The 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track works brilliantly in conjunction with the 1080p video effect. You can feel the tension-filled scene and all the auditory detail, which won this film two Academy Awards for sound (mixing and editing).
